Is this research design appropriate for this population? These questions require human judgment, ethics review, and sometimes IRB oversight. AI cannot substitute for this.

5. How to Document AI Use in Your Research Reports

  • Add an AI use statement to your methods section. Describe which tasks involved AI assistance and which tools were used.

  • Describe your human verification process. Note that all AI-generated citations were verified against primary sources, that qualitative codes were reviewed and refined by a human researcher.

  • Note data handling decisions. If participant data was anonymized before AI processing, document this.
